Enter your footage, material, and gates and you will get a budget range with the breakdown shown. The price bands come from published installed pricing for this area, not from a national average — and nothing here asks for your email.

Where these numbers come from
The per-foot bands are published installed prices for southern Idaho — material and labor together — cross-checked against statewide figures. Vinyl in this area runs $28–$60 per foot installed, wood $20–$45, and chain link $10–$25, with general residential fencing landing at $30–$60 per foot once gates, access, and demolition are counted. The 2026 Rupert fence cost guide shows the full table and the sources.
What the multipliers do
Height and ground conditions adjust the base band rather than replacing it. A four-foot fence uses less material and less labor than a six-foot one; an eight-foot commercial run uses considerably more. Sloped or tight-access sites take longer because panels have to be racked or stepped and material carried in. Ground where the duripan sits shallow costs more because the post holes need different equipment, and wet ground near a canal or lateral costs more because it needs corrosion-rated hardware and district permission — the two most Minidoka-specific lines in this whole calculator.
What it deliberately does not do
It does not ask for your email before showing you a number, and it does not pretend to be a quote. This is a budgeting estimate built from published installed pricing for southern Idaho, not a quote. Your actual price depends on your property - most of all on what the ground does at 20 to 40 inches. A binding number comes from a free on-site measure.
Questions
About this calculator
How accurate is this fence calculator?
It is built from published installed pricing for southern Idaho, so it is a reliable budgeting range rather than a quote. It will get you within the right band for a straightforward job. What it cannot see is your specific property — how deep the hardpan sits, whether a truck can reach the fence line, or whether the line runs near a canal. Those are what move a job inside its range, and they are what the free on-site measure is for.
Why does the calculator ask about the hardpan?
Because in Minidoka County it genuinely changes the price. The soil series named after this county carries a silica-cemented duripan at 20 to 40 inches, and an ordinary auger will not cut it. On a lot where the pan sits shallow, post holes need a rock auger or a breaker, and that is real time on a fence with thirty holes. Two identical-looking houses on one street can price differently for that reason alone, which is why no honest calculator here can ignore it.
Does the estimate include taking the old fence out?
Only if you tick the removal box. Removal and disposal adds $3–$10 per foot and includes pulling old concrete footings out rather than snapping posts off at grade. It is worth including in your budget from the start — it is a real cost that some bids leave out to look cheaper.
