Rupert Idaho Fence Pros is a fence company serving Rupert and the Mini-Cassia area, and fence removal & replacement is one of the services we build most. This page covers what the work involves here specifically — the ground, the climate, the code, and what it costs — rather than what it involves in general.

What we do on the first visit

The first visit is a measure, not a sales call. We walk the fence line with you, check the grade and how the ground drains, and probe for the hardpan — the USDA soil series named after this county is defined by a silica-cemented duripan sitting 20 to 40 inches down, and whether your posts have to go through it changes the job. We confirm where the property line actually runs, count the gates, and note whether equipment can reach the line. Then you get a written per-foot price with removal and gates as separate lines.

If we think repair is the better spend than replacement, or a different material suits your situation better, we say so on that visit — including when it means the smaller job for us.

What's included

  • On-site measure covering both the tear-out and the new fence, priced separately so you can see each
  • 811 Digline utility locate filed and confirmed before we dig
  • Old fence dismantled and loaded rather than pushed over
  • Concrete footings extracted, not cut off below grade and left in the ground
  • New post positions offset from old footings where extraction would compromise the hole
  • All material hauled to a proper disposal point
  • Site graded and raked so the ground is ready for the new line
  • The new fence built to the full specification of its material page

What this costs in Rupert

Fence Removal & Replacement runs $3–$10 per linear foot installed in this area. Removal and haul-away ranges; the replacement fence prices against its own material band. The things that move a job up its range are gate count, how much old fence has to come out, whether we can get equipment to the line, slope, and how shallow the rock is. If you want a number before you call, the fence cost calculator will get you close.

When it needs doing

  • Fence past economical repair along most of its length
  • Old footings blocking a new post line
  • Mixed patched sections that no longer line up
  • Fence in the wrong place after a survey

Questions

Fence Removal & Replacement questions

Why does removal cost extra if you are building the new fence anyway?

Because it is real labor and real disposal fees. Removal runs roughly $3–$10 per linear foot depending on what is there — a wire fence pulls fast, a 30-year-old chain link set in oversized footings does not. We price it as its own line so you can see it, rather than burying it in a per-foot number that makes the new fence look expensive.

Do you pull the old concrete out?

Yes. Cutting a footing off below grade and leaving it is the shortcut that costs you later, because the next post cannot go where it needs to go. We pull them. Where a footing genuinely cannot come out without wrecking the ground, we offset the new post and tell you we did it.

Can I keep the old fence for scrap or firewood?

If you want it, say so at the measure and we will stack it rather than haul it — that also takes the disposal cost off your price. Most people would rather it went away, but it is your material.

Can you replace a fence in phases?

Yes, and on a large property that is often the sensible budget approach. We will sequence it so the sections carrying the most load — stock containment, the street frontage, the run keeping the dog in — come first, and so each phase leaves you with a closed line rather than a gap.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free across Rupert and the Mini-Cassia area, including the drive. We walk the line with you, check how deep the rock sits on your lot, and hand you a written per-foot price with removal and gates broken out as their own lines.
